What we collect, and why
Account information
Name, phone number, email address, language preference, profile photo. Used to sign you in and identify you to drivers you have paired with.
Location data
The most important thing to understand: BossX does not collect your location in the background when the app is closed. Specifically:
- Riders (Bosses): Your location is only shared with your driver when you actively summon them or when you tap to share location in chat. There is no passive location collection.
- Drivers: Location is shared with the bosses you are paired with while you are "on duty." It stops when you go off duty.
- Background mode (driver only): The driver app uses iOS / Android's background location capability to receive ride requests reliably. This is documented in the app's permissions screen and disclosed before you enable it.
Trip data
Pickup location, drop-off location, timestamps, and ride status. Visible only to you and the driver you summoned. Not shared with other bosses, other drivers, or third parties.
Chat content
Messages between you and your driver are stored on our backend (and on Stream Chat, the provider we use). Stored to deliver them to your driver and to give you a searchable history. We do not read your messages and do not feed them to advertising models.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to insurance companies. The premium subscription is the entire revenue model.
- We do not rent your data. Same as selling, just with extra steps.
- We do not insert ads. The app has no advertising surface today and we have no plans to add one.
- We do not match you with strangers. No "drivers near you" carousel. No leaderboard. No surge pricing on a driver you already trust. The driver you summon is the driver you chose.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or files unless you explicitly share them in chat.
- We do not collect payment information. Payments are arranged directly between bosses and drivers. We have no payment processor and never see card numbers.
How driver pairing works
BossX is not a marketplace of strangers. To send a ride request to a driver, you must first pair with them by scanning a QR code (or vice versa). Until that pairing happens, you and the driver cannot see each other on the platform.
You can revoke any pairing at any time from the My Drivers / Clients screen. Once revoked, the driver can no longer see your location, send you messages, or accept ride requests from you.
Reporting and blocking
If a driver or rider behaves inappropriately, you can:
- Block them from your profile — they immediately lose all access to chat, ride requests, and your location
- Report them via the in-app report form, which is reviewed by a human within 48 hours
- Email us at safety@bossx.app for anything urgent
For emergencies involving physical safety, contact local emergency services first. We are a software platform, not an emergency dispatch service.
Account & data deletion
You can delete your account from inside the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. We process the deletion within 7 days. Backups may retain anonymized records for an additional period as described in our Privacy Policy. See also: step-by-step account deletion.
For data export or specific deletion requests, email privacy@bossx.app. We process data subject requests within 30 days.
Data residency
BossX is operated by BOSSX GLOBAL LIMITED, a Hong Kong company. Application data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (region: asia-southeast1) and Firebase. Chat messages are processed by Stream Chat. Crash reports are processed by Firebase Crashlytics. See the Privacy Policy for the complete list of subprocessors.
Children
BossX is not intended for users under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has registered, email privacy@bossx.app and we will remove the account.
Security
All traffic between the apps and our backend is encrypted (TLS 1.2+). Account authentication uses Firebase Auth with Google, Apple, or email/password. We do not store passwords; they are managed by your chosen identity provider.
